Things to Know

  • 1 in 5 Americans have a mental health condition
  • Rates of youth with severe depression increased from 5.9% in 2012 to 8.2% in 2015.  Even with severe depression, 76% of youth are left with no or insufficient treatment
  •  Despite progress made over the years, racism continues to have an impact on the mental health of Black/African Americans. Negative stereotypes and attitudes of rejection have decreased, but continue to occur with measurable, adverse consequences. Historical and contemporary instances of negative treatment have led to a mistrust of authorities, many of whom are not seen as having the best interests of Black/African Americans in mind.

About Me

I am a trauma-informed therapist that has experience working with a diverse population that includes, children, adults, couples and families.   I work to create a client-centered therapeutic environment that is free from judgement.  Let me meet you where you are, so that together, we can travel where you want to be.

What Does Trauma-Informed Mean?

A clinician who is trauma-informed, is one that realizes the widespread impact of trauma and recognizes the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, and others involved in the system.  Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances.   Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events.  Let me help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
